Set on the cusp of the Iron Age in the Ancient Mediterranean, we follow a former captain in the Thessalian Army named Penelope as she seeks to take revenge on those who betrayed her in this fantasy land of rampant slavery and lesdom.

Penelope and her Athenian allies launch an attack on the capital city of Larissa, engaging in open battle with the Celt and her sworn sisters.

Okay, here I am. And this is a review, as I promised:

Damn. Damn, damn, damn, that was soooooooooooooooooo good. I've never thought an erotic story can attract me so much, make me focus on the plot so devotedly and symphatize with the characters so eagerly. I wouldn't mind having "Tale of Ties and Binds" on my bookshelf, if it ever happened to be printed ;P
I absolutely drown in that ancient, quasi-historical and quasi-fantasy universe, where everything seems to be on the right place (of course, providing that a any things can be on the right place in a world ruled by women <sexist pun! :la:>). Everywhere among that erotism and debauchery - I could really feel that sophisticated scent of Greek culture and mythology.
That vocabulary - sweet Jesus, it was more like a 19-th-century British novel than an erotic story! So many beautiful words, so many great, detailed descrptions of every scene... I'm pleased :D
Characters were terrific. I loved Daphe for her temper and zeal, Serena for her slyness and Adara - for her disarming fatalism. Also, the evolution of Penelope is very engaging - I was very curious how all those adventures and peril would eventually change the redhead matriarch. Oh, and the Celt was just perfect antagonist - arrogant, and yet emotionless, cunning and ruthless. I really hated her from one of firs encounters and I can say I felt satisfaction with the conclusion of her fate :devilish:
There are four things I didn't like in the story. Literally - four. Three of them are details and one is just my fussiness.
One: the final struggle... well, the sense of battles in that universes somehow imposed that, but it was more like a wrestling than an epic fight between protagonist and antagonist.
Two: that ending... I don't know, maybe it's just the matter of the atmosphere of the whole scene, but I wouldn't something more incisive. Luckily, there's the epilogue, so the bad impression is supressed ;)
Three: Adara's fate! She's one of my favorite characters (not only my, I guess) and to conclude her thread of the plot in such uncertain way... As said above, I prefer more incisive conclusions :(
And the fourth: why all men are enslaved?! I protest! :la:

That's obvious You feel very comfortable with creating historical/quasi-historical stories, "AToTaB" and "Ides (...)" prove that. Are You going to continue that? Maybe the plot of your next great series will take place during Middle Ages or 16-17th century? You've got plenty of possibilities! Good luck with your coming stories! ;)
